This tree sculpture was carved from a multi stem cedar tree, for private clients in Herne Bay, Kent. It depicts a standing Buddha with several poles behind it, from which the clients were to hang prayer flags. Around the back of the sculpture are some steps which lead to a raised seat which gives a great view over the garden fence of the sea.

arnothill park 1This sculpture was carved into a standing tree trunk in the play area of Arnot Hill Park, Gedling, Nottingham, and was commissioned by Gedling Borough Council.  The concept for the sculpture  was a development on some drawings created by local children in a series of workshops I conducted at their school. They were asked to draw things which they would see in the park and they came up with some great ideas. The picture shows Alex Hobby, one of the guys that help me out, putting the finishing touches to the colour work.

jack and the bean stalk 2 webThis sculpture is made from a standing tree trunk in the outdoor play space of the pre school at Brownlow School, Melton Mowbray. The sculpture is intended to inspire the children to read and so depicts a stack of books. On the top of the stack there are two open books out of which a representation of a story appears. The back book shows a bean stalk with a large set of boots climbing down it and the front book shows a castle tower with a dragon climbing it.

This project was commissioned by Broxtowe Borough Council and was carved into a standing dead Chestnut tree. The tree had been their for so long that over the years the local kids had carved there names into the trunk.

The design of the Tree Beard was developed with the help of some ideas from the local girl guide group who took part a short walk and workshop in the Spinny.Broxtowe tree beard
